Translate PDF isn't available yet

Document translation needs a machine-translation service plus layout rebuilding so translated text fits the original design — both run on servers. Browsers can't do it. Today: extract the text with PDF to Markdown and translate it with Google Translate or DeepL.

How Translate PDF will work

  1. You'll upload your PDF (coming soon).
  2. You'll pick source and target languages.
  3. The translation engine will convert text in place.
  4. You'll download the translated PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How can I translate a PDF today?

Extract the text with our PDF to Markdown tool, then paste it into Google Translate or DeepL. You'll get accurate translation without the original layout.

Will the translated PDF keep its layout?

That's the plan — translated text will flow back into the original design. Text expansion (some languages run longer) is the hard part the layout engine will handle.

Which languages will be supported?

Major world languages first, expanding from there. Translation quality will come from professional machine-translation services.

What about scanned PDFs?

Scans will need OCR first — use OCR PDF or Searchable PDF, then translate. Translation will work on PDFs with selectable text.
